This project was something that really opened my eyes to the amount of change that can be made throughout this campus by the very people who attend school here. this class alone has helped me to realize the amount of work that there still is to be done. though the difference that we can make in is bigger than we realize. its us that will raise awareness for the cause that we are speaking for, the improvement will take root within us. So to say the least this project has challenged us all to take that next step. same goes for this malama honua course, we look at things from a much different perspective and take action towards each problem. This class has brought out the risk taker in us and has taught skills that can be applied to our daily lives. such as this project that taught us the importance of communication and time management. with our great efforts we all pulled through and managed to have a successful end result even if it wasn't in the direction that we were expecting. its a good feeling to know how much our hard work as a group has paid off and for that we have grown to be better than when we started.

In Malama Honua, i learned so many things like my basic people skills such as being a group person, and my time management skills got better because thats basically what we needed to have to pass this class. I also learned how to plant Kalo, and grow kalo and other things. I really liked all the learning trips we did because it was a way for us as students to not just be in a classroom, and leaning by lectures, but for us to actually go out into the community and work. When we went to Mokauea, i really liked that because Mokauea is a place that is trying to revive the Hawaiian culture, and by us working over there, it really connected me to my culture and made me have a better understanding of why we should take care our land for the future generations. In the Waihe'e water tunnel trip, i learned the importance of water and why we need to be grateful for what we have, and it made me realize that we need to be more responsible for what we have now because if we don't, it will be gone. What i wish for the future classes of Malama Honua is that they will continue to make our mala outside better, and possible grow more Kalo so that one day they can possibly make their own pa'i'ai. I also hope that more people take this class seriously and actually go out and change the community because that is what the class is for, not only to learn about sustainability, but also to go out and see/make the change that is needed to keep our Hawaiian culture alive.
PRESENTATION DAY!!! Friday was a very successful day for our group. We did our presentation, and personally i think we did very good. we got through it in the time frame that we were supposed to, and actually came through! After the presentation, Kumu Lono talked to me and he said he likes our idea of putting hand dryers in the bathrooms. He also gave another suggestion on how to make our project work which was that he said if we could figure out how to hook the electricity hand dryers up to the bikes in ka'ahumanu gym so who ever paddles the bikes can power the energy in the dryers. Although most of my group are seniors, i am a junior and can possibly still work on the project to make it work. Over all I'm happy to be done with the final.
We didn't have class on Wednesday, but our group just finished working on our script for our final presentation on Friday. I think that our group has worked well together and has got everything done so far. There isn't much to say besides that we are just finishing up final touches, and just preparing to present.
Our group had class today but our project is coming to a close and we need to focus on getting everything ready and prepared for our presentation date which is this friday. Our group turned in our paper already and we finished up our powerpoint. Doing this has put us in a really good place for friday so we wont be falling behind or stressing about anything. Though we dont have class, we have practiced what we will say and have given each other our parts for this powerpoint.
This week is where this project comes to a close therefore our research and other work that we have put into this project will make or break the end result of our purposal. we are continuing the rehearsal of our oral report in order to make the ten minute requirement for our presentation. in class on Friday we began to discuss the order in which we will be going and what exactly each person is to be talking and expanding on. hopefully we can all continue working together as a group and feel confident going into our presentation on friday prepared and ready to deliver
Today, we finished our power point presentation for next week Friday. All we need to do is practice saying what we want so we are well prepared to present. We still need to work on our project paper, and just fine tune and add a little more data that we collected from the other day. Over all, our group is working well, and getting things done slowly but surely.
On Wednesday, we worked on weighing our data that we collected so that we could complete our paper, and do our presentation. Pretty much that is all we did on that day. We are continuing to work on our presentation, and practicing is a group so we are better prepared for to present in front of our group.
Our group didn't have class today but we were able to start our presentation and get some more info for our project. We were able to weigh the trash bags Aunty Violet guys brought us to see how much paper towels we are using in each of our bathrooms in the 11-12 grade campus. We are hoping to get more done for our presentation and add more pictures and facts to make our presentation more visual and appealing to our audience. We are hoping to get all this done soon so we can be prepared and ready for the day we present our ideas to the world.
Today our group did not have class but we still were able to get some things done. Tita created a google slide for us to get started on though we haven't yet, either because were busy with our own plans and agendas or whatever it may be. But our group is really on top of things for our project and our presentation. We have a lot of data from Aunty Violet guys so we are gonna look through that in class and collect data from it to use in our presentation. The overall completion of our project is going well and I believe by the time we need to turn this in it will be very detailed and easy for us to present to our viewers, our classmates and our teachers.
